Colao & Peter Luxury Outdoor Living is a premier luxury outdoor design build firm creating highly customized outdoor environments throughout Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland. From resort inspired pools and outdoor living spaces to landscape architecture, lighting, masonry, and long term property care, we design and build spaces intended to elevate everyday life and bring people together at home.
Originally founded through the partnership of Joe Colao and J.R. Peter, Colao & Peter is now led by J.R. Peter, a Registered Landscape Architect and graduate of Virginia Tech. Today, the company is recognized for delivering highly detailed, resort inspired outdoor environments through a seamless integration of design, construction, craftsmanship, and concierge level service.
Unlike many firms that separate design from construction, our team works collaboratively from concept through completion, allowing even the most complex projects to feel organized, clear, and beautifully executed. Our background in masonry and material craftsmanship continues to influence our work today, from custom architectural detailing to sourcing exceptional natural stone from around the world, including imported travertine, Jerusalem limestone, and specialty granites for select projects.
Over the years, our work has been recognized through numerous industry awards and featured in publications including Home & Design Magazine and Modern Luxury. While we are proud of the recognition, our greatest accomplishment is the long term relationships we build with our clients and the trust they place in our team throughout the process.
